Paika Women’s Wellbeing Writing Retreat
A weekend of rest, relaxation & renewal
Who is this weekend for?
Women who want space to rest, relax, reflect; women who want to clarify their direction and reset their priorities; women who want to connect with themselves & other women in gentle, productive time out.
Where & when is the weekend being held?
Dates & times are: 7pm Friday 24 August – 4pm Sunday 26 August.
Location: Paika Station, 17kms north of Balranald.
What will we be doing?
The weekend is an easy mix of structure that includes workshops, meals & time out. There is a fireplace outside, between our accommodations and the lake; the moon will be full. We will have opportunities to walk & wander, to take photographs, to sit, chat, rest, reflect.
What is included in costs for the weekend?
What do women need most when they take time out?
– a warm, comfortable bed in a gorgeous room (2 x nights)
– beautiful meals brought to their table (and no washing up) – 2 x breakfasts, 2 x morning tea, 2 x lunch, 1 dinner.
What are the meals & accommodation like?
Sigh, they’re wonderful. You will be staying in beautifully renovated shearers’ quarters in twin share accommodation on the shores of Lake Paika, a restored wetland, in twin share accommodation.
All meals are prepared from local and homegrown produce by our host Dianne Williams. All dietary needs are catered for. Dianne is an incredible cook – stand by for a feast.
Who is facilitating the weekend?
The weekend is led by award-winning journalist & author Stephanie Dale, who is the founder of The Write Road.
The Write Road is a wellbeing initiative for people in isolated areas. Stephanie has spent more than four years traveling around rural and remote communities, encouraging people to tell their story, their way.

The retreat workshops include:
Song of the Soul
– clarify your vision, create a map for the journey ahead
Every Body’s Story
– every story you’ve ever told lives inside your body…for better or for worse; our bodies are a wonderful source of intelligence, information & wisdom
Social Media Sanity
– any woman with ideas to share and events to organise needs to connect with others…how to use social media effectively without it using you!
Writing for Wellbeing
– journaling is a powerful tool for identifying problems, finding solutions and navigating life’s challenges. This workshop offers tips, tools and techniques for using writing as a pathway to everyday wellbeing.
What is the cost for the Paika retreat?
$725 full payment up front
$795 with a $300 deposit and full payment on or before 17 August.
